●The EF81 was introduced in 1968 as a dual-purpose locomotive capable of pulling both passenger and freight.
The No. 95 locomotive was repainted in 1987 as a locomotive for the Joyful Train "Super Express Rainbow", and is characterized by its vivid cherry red paintwork and the large "EF81" logo on the side of the car.
Even after the "Super Express Rainbow" was retired, the locomotive's rainbow paintwork continued, and it is currently used to pull the group-only train Cassiopeia Cruise.
