-The D51 was the most produced locomotive by the Japanese National Railways and JR, and was active throughout the country due to its performance that allowed it to be operated on low-standard lines (Otsu line). It is a type that can be said to be synonymous with steam locomotives, and is still popular today under the nickname "Degoichi". It was used as the main locomotive in non-electrified sections from before the war to the mid-Showa period, and was equipped with various equipment for each locomotive depot to reflect the climate and operating conditions throughout the country, and a major feature is that although it is the same type, different expressions can be seen.
